Since 1959, the Universal Life Church of Modesto California has been ordaining ministers around the world. Without price, without obligation, and without question of faith.

The doctrine of the church is simple, "Do only that which is right." It it us to each person to peacefully determine for himself or herself what is right. If it is peaceful, if it does not interfere with the rights of others, it is not in conflict with the church.

Although it sounds libertine, it is anything but. It is a weighty responsibility to determine what is right, and it is not always easy to determine, much less to do. The easier path would be to assign the responsibility for making such determinations to a priest, minister, ancient writings, or unseen force. To sort these things out for oneself is a challenge indeed!

It does not mean that to be a minister or member of the Universal Life Church one must abandon an existing faith or belief. If you believe it, and if it is peaceful, it is within the doctrine of the ULC. You may even continue to assign the determination of these choices to a clergy person...if that is what YOU believe is the right thing to do.

There is never a charge or hidden agenda for becoming a minister of the Universal Life Church. You can do it today! It is not "instant", and it is not "online", such things are legal fiction and marketing that some others have put forth.

Although the application is submitted via an online form and church communications, like any other organization, are done using the Internet, every application is individually reviewed, and each ordination is done as part of a deliberate, thoughtful, and responsible act by one or more authorized church officers. No "instant online ordinations" here!
